KILLED IN ACCIDENT
Former Resident in Fatal Auto Accident Near Denver
Charles F. Tew, aged 55 years, who was raised in Blair, but for a number of years a resident of Denver where he was a prominent attorney, was killed in an auto accident Saturday.
Newspaper dispatches announcing the death of Mr. Tew state that he was out riding with the aged widow of a late Denver newspaper publisher and another couple when near Walcott, the automobile in which the two couples were riding plunged from the highway and turned over four times as it rolled down a 55 foot embankment into the Eagle river. Tew was killed outright, and Mrs. Tommen, whose husband was one of the founders of the Denver Post, suffered a broken right ankle and hip. Her condition is critical. Other members of the party escaped with minor bruises and a severe shaking up.
A telegram received Sunday by Sam Stevens, master of the local Masonic lodge, stated that the remains of Mr. Tew would be shipped to Blair for interment, arriving in time to hold the funeral under Masonic auspices this Thursday morning,
Mr. Tew grew manhood in Blair, the son of John Tew, a pioneer blacksmith who operated a shop on west Front street. The family left here over thirty years ago.
