GRANDMA McCOMB DIES AT SON’S HOME
Body Taken to Elliott, Iowa, for Interment
Mrs. Alice Kathrine McComb died at the home of her son, C. E. McComb on east Grant street Sunday, following a paralytic stroke she suffered last Wednesday. The deceased was born July 9, 1852, and she was a daughter of Judge A. G. Lowe, the first judge of Montgomery County, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Lucien McComb at Red Oak, Iowa on January 6, 1868, and to this union two sons were born, both of whom survive her. The husband died in July 1894. She was possessed of a very cheery disposition, and those whom she counted as her friends seemed to be especially near and dear to her. For the past seven years she had made her home with her son in this city.
Surviving her are two sons, C. E. McComb of this city and Fay McComb of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Pluma VanCampen of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Amy Phillips of Seattle, Washington. Three grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held from the McComb home Tuesday at 11:00 o’clock, the Rev. L. J. Moran officiating, after which the body was laid to rest in Waverly cemetery at Elliott, Iowa. |
