Gail O. Frazier, 66

Gail O. Frazier, 66, died June 12, 2009, at his home in Logan, Iowa, with his family at his bedside.

Funeral services were Tuesday, June 16, at the First Presbyterian Church in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Interment was in the Logan Cemetery.

Gail Owen Frazier was born Jan. 14, 1943, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Stanley and Lola (Orchutt) Frazier. He spent his early years in Oklahoma and the remainder of his childhood on the family farm outside of Logan.

He graduated from Logan High School in 1967, then went to the American Flyers School and earned his pilot and flight ratings.

On Aug. 27, 1966, he married Nancy Marene Ryan of Blair.

Mr. Frazier initially instructed new pilots (some of whom became lifelong friends or relatives) at the Council Bluffs Airport, and then flew corporate jets for various employers in the Omaha area. He took a sabbatical from flying while his children were growing up and farmed with his father for many years north of Logan. He finished his flying career as a corporate pilot out of Omaha.

He was a passionate fisherman and especially enjoyed his trips to Red Lake, Ontario. He also enjoyed spending time in his garden, tinkering with antiques and his boat, and spoiling his grandchildren. They were the light of his life.

He is survived by his wife Nancy, of Logan; sons and daughters-in-law, Bradley and Susan Frazier of Layton, Utah, Spencer and Teresa Frazier of Springdale, Ark., Russell and Rosanne Frazier of Branson, MO.; daughters and son-in-law, Stacey and Brian Murphy, and Alison Frazier, all of Omaha; 18 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Memorials are suggested to the Jim Wood Aquatic Center; Camp Nebowa, My Stuff Bags Foundation, and Caring Bridge.

Logan Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
