26 Mar., 1931 - The Enterprise
Nancy Catherine Gregory was born in Wheeling, West Virginia Feb. 23, 1868, and died March 17, 1931, being at the time of her death 63 years and 22 days of age.
She came to Nebraska with her parents when six years of age. The trip here being made in a covered wagon.
She was united in marriage to Alonzo M. Farley Sept. 10, 1885. To this union three children were born, one son dying at the age of five years. The other two are Albert E. of Dennison, Iowa and Mrs. E. R. Appleby of Kennard.
She made her home at St. Paul, Neb. for over forty years. In the fall of 1920 she and her husband came to Kennard to be nearer the children. They have practically made their home with the daughter ever since.
She was a patient sufferer for five years, but did not take her bed until Dec. 14, 1930. From this on she was bedfast.
Thirty five years ago she united with the Church of God, and was a staunch and firm believer and worker in the church from then on.
Knowing her condition, she at times made a request of what she would like to have done. Every detail was carried out of her wishes as far as possible. Loving hands cared for her always, but could do nothing to have her stay with us. Words cannot express the goodness and kindness of her heart. Always doing something to help someone else in time of need without one single thought of her own suffering or condition. A truly wonderful mother in every way. Her sunny disposition won her friends wherever she was.
She leaves to mourn her going her husband, daughter, son, three grandchildren, one sister and two brothers.
The funeral was held at the M. E church in Kennard with Almus Adams of Omaha in charge. Afterwards was taken to the Kennard cemetery and laid to rest.
