CALHOUN MARSHAL DIES OF WOUNDS
Succumbs to Wounds Inflicted By Bandits On Monday Morning, Dec. 5th. Passes Away Wednesday, Dec. 14.
NO TRACE OF BANDITS
News reached the Enterprise office this morning that Albert Suverkrubbe, forty six year old night marshall of Calhoun, passed away last evening (Wednesday) at the Covenant hospital in Omaha as the result of wounds inflicted in an early morning battle with bandits on the morning of Dec. 5th.
Suverkrubbe, in his rounds of the city, noticed some suspicious-looking characters, and followed them and discovering that their intent was robbery, he opened fire on them hoping to capture them or at least frighten them away. The fire was returned and one shot struck Suverkrubbe, tearing a hole through his abdomen and hip, and passing through the body.
He was immediately rushed to the Covenant hospital where an operation was performed. He apparently was on the mend until Tuesday of this week when an infection set in. He gradually grew worse and passed away Wednesday evening of this week.
