OLD SETTLER CALLED
Mrs. Marie Lamp, old settler of this county, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Peter Petersen of south of Blair, last Monday, August 1 at 8:45 p.m. following a prolonged illness of four years. The husband, C. H. Lamp, a pioneer settler of the county, passed on twenty two years ago, and since his death she has made her home with her daughter.
Mrs. Lamp was born in Germany Aug. 26,1857, and came to America in 1873. Here she married Mr. C. H. Lamp on Aug. 25, 1875, and to them only one child, now Mrs. Peter Petersen, was born. The daughter and husband already mentioned, and three grandchildren: Mrs. Josephine Rasmussen of Kennard, Mrs. Rose Kruse of near Blair and Mrs. Helen Kruse of Bennington, and also two great grandchildren, also two sisters, Mrs. John Busch of Omaha and Mrs. A. Frascher of Los Angeles, Calif. are left to mourn her.
The funeral services are to be held from the home at 2 p.m. this Thursday afternoon with Rev. Goede of Fontanelle officiating, and interment will be made in the German cemetery in the immediate neighborhood.
So ends the life of another old settler, another mother of those early days when real motherhood was needed when the country was in its making. Mrs. Lamp did her part as the times demanded, always a loving and trustful companion and a fond, adoring mother, and in her passing she leaves a world of pleasant memories that will always be a sacred reminder of her.
