Patricia J. Byers, 54, of Kennard, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle. A private family interment followed at the Fontanelle Cemetery.

Patricia J. Hetrick was born April 18, 1954, in Fremont, to Lawrence F. "Fritz" and Maryann (Timm) Hetrick.She grew up at Fontanelle and was a 1972 graduate of Arlington High School.

On July 14, 1973, she married Michael Byers at Salem Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Byers had a lifetime love of baking and was lovingly known as the "Pie Lady." She enjoyed gardening, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Byers of Kennard; five daughters and sons-in-law, Heather and Craig Campbell of Port Ryan, S.C., Angela and Scott Rosa of Bellevue, Amber Byers of Blair, Crystal and Eric Sauser of Omaha, and Megan Byers of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Jack Crawford and Bonnie and Dan Parrish, all of Fremont; mother-in-law, Alice Byers of Blair; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parent; father-in-law, William Byers; sister-in-law, Teresa Byers; and one granddaughter.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.
