MRS. MARIE BOLLN

Mrs. Marie Bolln, wife of Claus Bolln, deceased, passed away at her home on west South street Saturday, Oct. 14, the attributing cause being old age. Deceased was born in Holstein, Germany May 16, 1850 where she grew to womanhood, and where in 1870 she married the late Claus Bolln.

They continued to make Germany their home for a number of years after their marriage, and four children were born before they left the mother country. In 1884 they came to America, and shortly afterward settled on a farm east of town, now owned by Mr. Frank Gray. Here they lived until 1904 when they moved to Blair where they have since made their home. The husband passed away in February of 1931 and since that time she has been very lonely.

Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Bolln, five of whom: John, August, Wm. and Mrs. Emma Wheatley of Blair and Herman of Pender, still survive and mourn deeply their loss.

Mrs. Bolln was a woman of real Christian character, always kindly and helpful, she drew to herself a circle of friends that really appreciate her beautiful character, and in her death she leaves only pleasant memories.

She was a member of the German Lutheran church, and she lived the part in a truly Christian-like life, always faithful to her belief.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the German Lutheran church at 2:30, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery beside her husband.

RITES HELD FOR MRS. C. BOLLN

NATIVE OF GERMANY DIED SATURDAY AT HOME ON SOUTH STREET

Death removed another of Blair’s older residents Saturday when Mrs. Claus Bolln of west South street passed away from the infirmities of old age. She was 83 years old.

A resident of Blair many years, Mrs. Bolln had evinced great interest in the Ladies Aid Society of Trinity Lutheran church in Blair, of which she was a member. As a tribute to the memory of their former member, a group of the ladies rendered a vocal selection at her funeral.

Maria M. Rickers was born May 16, 1859 in Holstein, Germany. When a young woman she was married in that country to Claus Bolln, and the newly-married couple immigrated to the United States, eventually reaching Washington county. They had been constant residents here since that time.

Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Bolln, six sons and one daughter. Two sons, Henry and Joe, and her husband preceded Mrs. Bolln in death. Surviving are John, August and William of Blair, and Herman of Pender; and Mrs. Emma Wheatley of Blair. Also left to mourn her loss are twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from Trinity Lutheran church in Blair, with Rev. H.C. Jul. Frese in charge. Burial was in the Blair cemetery
