J. HATCHER, 77, COMMITS SUICIDE
Tired of living, friends and close relatives all gone, J. Hatcher, penniless and 77 years of age succeeded in ending his life when on May 9th he plunged a large spike into his abdomen. Deceased had been a county charge for some time, but of late had been placed on the old age pension list.
Previously, he had made unsuccessful attempts to end his life by slashing his throat, abdomen and wrists with a razor and eating ground glass, but each time his life had been saved.
He is said to be a Kentuckian by birth but no close relatives are known. The funeral services were held last Saturday, with the Rev. T. J. Reese of the Baptist church officiating, and interment was made in was made in the Blair cemetery.
