COUNTY BOY KILLED BY TRAIN IN IOWA
Mrs. And Mrs. Charles Koenig, who live in the bench, received the tragic news of the death of their oldest son, Hugo A. Koenig, which occurred Monday, July 19, at Norway, Iowa. The telegram stated he had been killed by a train.
Hugo had been working for the railroad company painting bridges and at this writing, Tuesday afternoon, the family were not fully informed as to the particulars of his death.
The deceased was born south of Blair, on Dec. 24, 1899, and was therefore past 26 years of age. He had been away since March but had written to his mother and intimated that he was coming home so she was wholly unprepared for the terrible news of his death.
The family consisted of thirteen children, of which Hugo was the oldest boy, there being three older sisters. The children remaining are Mrs. William Paustian of Bloomfield, Mrs. Lars Weber, south of town, Martha of Fremont, Eda, Hilda, Freda, Marie, Laura, Carl, Walter, Margaret and John, all of whom are at home. All were here for the funeral.
The deceased attended school at the Pleasant View school near his home.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 P.M at the family home, Rev. W.H. Underwood officiating. Burial was made in the Blair cemetery.
