Mrs. A. W. Rose, aged 76 years, a resident of Blair for the past 23 years, died at the Court View hospital Monday evening after a lingering illness.
Isabella Thompson was born in Chicago August 13, 1858, and came to Omaha with her parents in 1863 when it was but a small town. Later her parents moved to a farm 2 1/2 miles south of Blair where she grew to womanhood.
In February, 1878 she was married to A. W Rose. To this union ten children were born, two, Charles Fredric and Glen Clifton, dying in infancy.
Surviving are her husband and eight children: Mrs. C. H. Taylor, Los Angeles, California; Edgar of Blair; Mrs. Fred Hoar, Walthill; Mrs. T. A. Buck, Chicago, Ill.; Edwin of Walthill; J. Mawson, South Sioux City; Mrs. Earl Askwig, Reed Point, Montana; and Roy of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Also surviving are 26 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. U. S. Cornwell of Walthill and four brothers: John of Ainsworth, Dan, Frank and James all of Blair.
Short services will be held at the home on West Davis Avenue Friday at 1:30 and 2 o’clock at the First Baptist church, Rev. Reese officiating.
