FORMER CONTAIN DIES IN OREGON

Mrs. Alice Van Valin, for many years a resident of Washington county, passed away last Friday, October 13th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harve Chambers of Cottage Grove, Oregon; she was eighty seven years old at the time of her death.

Deceased was born near Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 12, 1852, but had spent the greater part of her life in Nebraska. She resided near Arlington for a number of years, and was also well known in Herman, having been a frequent visitor in that vicinity when her children, Mrs. Chambers, Floyd Van Valin and Kelley J. Van Valin, resided here. During the past three years she had made her home in Oregon.

Mrs. Van Valin, who was affiliated with the Methodist church for many years, is survived by four sons, Floyd of Coleridge, Nebraska; Kelley J. of Pasadena, California; Dr. Shirley Van Valin of Omaha; Claude of Cottage Grove, Oregon; and one daughter, Mrs. Chambers of Cottage Grove.

Funeral services were held in Cottage Grove, and the body was brought to Herman by Claumin. Short services were conducted Tuesday morning by Rev. A. W. Clark, and interment was made in the Herman cemetery beside the husband and a son.
