Mildred Viola Ray, eldest daughter of Glen and Keturah Ray, was born December 31, 1917 east of Herman, and died July 4, 1937 at York, being 19 years, 6 months and 4 days old. She attended the Kindred school east of here until she moved with the family to Arlington. The family later moved back to Herman, and she finished the Herman school five years ago. She leaves to mourn her loss her parents, one sister, Margaret, and six brothers, Arthur, Earl, Lyle, Dale, Lee and Bobby Joe, all living at home and her grandfather, R. M. Caldwell of Herman. She will be missed not only by her family, but by many friends. The family live on the William Adams farm two miles north of Herman. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 at the home, conducted by Rev. A.W. Clarke of the local Methodist church. Interment was made in the Tekamah cemetery.
