RITES FOR WATSON TYSON HELD MONDAY
Member Of Pioneer Family Succumbs After Years Of Illness
RESIDENT OF COUNTY SINCE 1873
Watson Tyson passed away Saturday morning, July 8th, at his home on West Colfax Street after years of illness. The immediate cause of his death was a stroke from which he failed to rally.
Deceased was a native of this county, having been born at the home farm north of town on March 30, 1873. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Watson Tyson, pioneers who settled here in 1865.
On January 8th, 1898, he was married to Nellie Morrill and to them two sons were born, Harry of Blair and Kenneth of Omaha. Besides the wife and two sons, he leaves one brother, Peter M. Tyson and one sister, Mrs. Eliza Warrick, both of Blair and three grandchildren, Paul, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Tyson and Barbara Ann and Charles Watson, children of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Tyson.
The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Methodist church with Rev. A. W. Clarke of the Methodist church at Arlington officiating, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Wat Tyson Dies of 7-Year Illness
LANDOWNER AND FARMER WAS 71 YEARS OLD AT TIME OF PASSING
After an illness of nearly seven years, Watson Tyson, 71, died at his home on west Colfax street, Saturday morning. He had been a semi-invalid for some time, and suffered four paralytic strokes, the last on Thursday evening.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon at the Blair Methodist church, the Rev. A.W. Clarke of Arlington officiating. Interment was in Blair cemetery.
Music at the final rites was provided by Gifford L. Dixon. Pallbearers, all old friends of the deceased, were A. Grant Allen, James Conety, Clyde Metzler, Ernest Tornblad, Ernest A. Dixon and Byron Bunn.
Campbell Mortuary was in charge of funeral arrangements.
Son of Pioneers
A lifetime resident of Washington County, Mr. Tyson was born March 30, 1873, to Mr. and Mrs. Watson Tyson, pioneer residents of this community. He was married to Nellie Morrill on January 8, 1898, and to this union two sons were born. He had been a member of the local I.O.O.F. lodge over a long period of years.
Most of Mr. Tyson’s life was spent in farming, in the Bottom area between Blair and Herman. He retired to Blair some years ago when his health began to fail, however, and had lived here with his wife and brother, Peter M. Tyson, until his death last Saturday.
Surviving are the widow; two sons, Kenneth of Omaha and Harry of Blair; and three grandchildren, Paul in the service in California, Barbara Ann and Charles Watson of Omaha.
