JUDGE ALBAE H. NELSON IS DEATH VICTIM
County Judge of Washington Co. Succumbs After Operation
HIGHLY RESPECTED AS MAN AND JURIST
County Judge Albae H. Nelson died Wednesday afternoon at 5:30 o’clock in the Dodge County Hospital in Fremont following an operation for gall bladder trouble seven days before.
He was born to Mr. and Mrs. C. John Nelson on the home farm south of Blair on May 3, 1897, and grew to manhood here. He graduated from the Blair High School in the class of 1915, and from the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Law of the Nebraska State University in 1930.
On September 1, 1937 he was married to Miss Jennie Fellows of Omaha, and shortly after this they went to Bristol, Virginia to live. In 1940 the death of his mother, leaving the father alone, prompted them to return to the home farm where they continued to live until he entered the county judge’s office in April of 1942 which place he has since filled.
Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Nelson, Audrey, five years and Judith, nine months old. Besides the widow and children, he leaves his father, one brother, George, and two sisters, Alta of Fremont and Mrs. Oscar Hopkins of Ogden, Utah.
As a man, Judge Nelson was strictly honest and capable. He made an ideal judge and every decision was given careful thought. His one thought was to live the ideal life and this he did as nearly as possible for humanity to do.
Judge Nelson was a member of the Congregational Church and lived the part; he was a Mason of long standing and took an active part in its workings. His life was of the high type that is worthy of emulation.
In his passing his family has lost a loving husband and father, and the community has lost a citizen of the highest type - one whose memory will stand for the highest influence to all who knew him - and the sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved family in their great sorrow.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed, but will probably be held from the Congregational church on Saturday afternoon at two o’clock with Rev. W. F. Lewis officiating, and interment will be made in the Blair cemetery.

Complications Resulting From An Operation Performed Last Wednesday, Judge Nelson Passed Away Yesterday in Fremont
County Judge Albae Nelson lost a game fight for his life, late Wednesday afternoon, when he died in Dodge County hospital, Fremont, just a week after submitting to major surgery. Death claimed him at 5:30pm.
Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Saturday afternoon, May 20, the place to be announced later. The Rev. W.F. Lewis will officiate. Campbell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Taken seriously ill with a gall bladder ailment early this spring, Judge Nelson had delayed surgery until all impending office work had been disposed of, conscientiously choosing a date which was convenient insofar as his work was concerned. He was operated upon last Wednesday morning and appeared to be in good shape. Gangrene developed on Friday, however, and he became critically ill. Since Sunday he had hovered between life and death.
A graduate of Blair high school and a native of Washington County, Judge Nelson also graduated from the arts and sciences and the college of law, University of Nebraska. He came to Blair two years ago to serve as county judge in the absence of Major John A. Carrigan of the armed forces, after practicing law in Omaha for a number of years.
He had received the nomination for the office of District Judge, and his name was to have appeared on the ballot in the General Election next fall.
Mr. Nelson leaves his widow and two small daughters, Audrey Lee, 5, and Judy Ann, less than a year old; his father, C. John Nelson; a brother, Geo. W. of Hooper; and two sisters, Alta of Fremont and Mrs. Addie Hopkins of Ogden, Utah. A host of friends, who came to admire him and respect him for his fine ability as a judge and counsellor, also mourn his loss.
