KENNARD LAD, 7, DIES OF BURNS
Threw Fuel Oil On Fire. Entire Body Was Badly Burned
LAST RITES HELD AT BLAIR TUESDAY
Paul Ernest Mallette, seven year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Omer Mallette of Kennard, died Sunday from the effects of burns which he had suffered the previous day.
The little fellow had been cleaning the lawn on Saturday afternoon and burning the refuse on a bonfire. The fire burned down and in trying to revive it, it is thought, he drew some fuel oil from a container nearby and threw it on the smoldering fire. The explosion was with such force that his clothing was immediately a mass of flames.
His entire body was terribly burned and although aid was immediately called and every effort made to save him, he died on the next day, Sunday afternoon.
Paul was the second oldest child of a family of four girls and one boy. He was an exceptionally bright, active child, and his untimely death has cast a spell of sadness over the family that will long be felt.
He was born in Sioux City, Iowa, the family moving to this county something over five years ago.
Besides the immediate family, he leaves many other relatives who will mourn him and cherish his memory as sacred.
Funeral services were held from the Campbell Mortuary on Tuesday afternoon, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
