MRS. LENA NELSON, OF GOOD SHEPHERD, DIED THURSDAY
Mrs. Lena Mortensen Nelson, a resident of the Good Shepherd Home, Blair, Nebr., died Thursday, April 15 at the Home. She was 92 years of age.
Mrs. Nelson was born at Omaha, Nebr., Oct. 17, 1883, the daughter of Mads and Anna K. Mortensen, former residents of Washington County. For many years she taught in the Washington County Schools. She was a charter member of the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church, a member of the Fort Calhoun Woman's Club and Washington County Historical Association.
Mrs. Nelson's husband, state senator Frank Nelson of O'Neill, Nebr., passed away in July of 1966 and since the fall of that year she has resided at the Home in Blair.
Mrs. Nelson is survived by one sister, Mabel C. Bauman of Concord, Calif.; step-son Paul Nelson and step-daughter Mrs. Edward (Margretha) Kaczor, O'Neill, Nebr.; 3 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. These include Mrs. Edward Lorenzen of Blair, Harold and Morton Steyer of Omaha. The late Dean Slader of Fort Calhoun was also a nephew.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Lynn Williams, were held at 2 p.m. Sat., April 17, at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church.
Pallbearers were: Paul Arden Nelson, Richard Kruse, J. Thomas Steyer, Dean A. Slader, John Lorenzen and Philip Lorenzen.
Interment was in Fort Calhoun Cemetery under the direction of the Sievers Mortuary.
