E. Ivan “Ike” McKinnis, 74, of Blair died May 29, 1998, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.
Services were Monday, June 1, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Chapel in Blair with Rev. David Ludwick officiating. Military graveside services were conducted by the V.F.W. Post 121 at the Blair Cemetery.
E. Ivan “Ike” McKinnis was born on May 31, 1923, at Tekamah to Elmer Howard and Edith (O’Neill) McKinnis. He was baptized at the Riverside Baptist Church in Tekamah and he attended the Riverside School.
In 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard Battleship USS Iowa during World War II. He was discharged in 1946.
On Jan. 27, 1945, he married Lorene McKee of Decatur at Hiawatha, Kan. They were divorced in 1987.
He later married Mary Moore.
Years. At the time of his death he was working at Crowell Memorial Home.
He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1251 in Blair and was a member of the Brick Layer’s Union Local 5 in Fremont.
He is survived by one son, John McKinnis of Yutan; three daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Gary Williby of Blair, Michelle and Dean Campbell of Blair and Sandy and Ron Shubert of Shubert; one step-sister, Josephine of Litman, Calif; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father; one brother, Pat McKinnis; and step-sister, Dee Dee Pottela of California.
Memorials are suggested to the Blair Rescue Squad or Blair Fire Department.
Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
