17 Sept., 1942 - The Enterprise - Elmer Ellsworth Blackman
FORMER COUNTIAN BURIED TUESDAY
Elmer Ellsworth Blackman, 77, former curator of the state historical society, died at his home in Lincoln last Sunday morning. He leaves his wife; a daughter, Mrs. E. S. Mathers of Lincoln; a son, J. Ellsworth of Gering, Nebraska; and four grandchildren.
Deceased was born at Davenport, Iowa, and came to Nebraska from Kansas 50 years ago. He lived in Fort Calhoun for a time and there met and married Miss Margaret Woods, a sister of Mrs. Judith Aronson.
He became associated with the state historical society at the time J. Sterling Morton was active in the work. He was considered an authority on Indian history.
Mr. Blackman retired because of ill health from the position of curator six years ago. He was a member of the Second Presbyterian church and Modern Woodmen of America, camp 969.
Mrs. Aronson was present at the funeral rites which were held Tuesday in Lincoln.
