MRS. SPICKLER RITES HELD SATURDAY
Mary L. Spickler, 88, an old time resident of the Barada vicinity, died at 7 o’clock Thursday morning at her home in Omaha of heart disease and complications. Mrs. Spickler had been ill about a month.
She and the late Mr. Spickler lived on a farm west of Barada for about 48 years. Approximately 20 years ago they retired and moved to Omaha. Her husband, J. S. Spickler, died in 1941.
Mrs. Spickler was born in Marion, Ohio Nov. 11, 1859. she came to Richardson county with her parents as a girl, the family traveling up the Missouri by steamboat to the now extinct town of Araga northeast of Falls City. Her maiden name was Mary L. Boggs. She was married to J. S. Spickler about 68 years ago.
Surviving are four sons, D. E. Spickler of Blair, M. M. Spickler and J. M. Spickler both of Omaha, Otis Spickler of Riviera, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Esther Walden of Omaha; one sister, Mrs. D. Kelso, Denver; and one brother, Val Boggs of Fort Calhoun.
Seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.
