ART ROWE DIES FOLLOWING AUTO CRASH THURSDAY
Lost Control Of Car On U. S. Highway 73 South Of Blair
Art Rowe, well known Blair man died late Friday afternoon of injuries received in an automobile accident early Thursday evening. He had been taken to the Methodist Hospital in Omaha immediately after the crash.
Rowe, who was riding alone at the time of the accident, lost control of his car but a short distance south of Blair on U. S. 75. The car crashed into a large tree, crushing the driver’s chest, breaking his arm and leg and causing numerous other injuries. He was rendered unconscious and was immediately taken to Omaha.
Arthur Smith Rowe was born at DeSoto January 28, 1901, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Rowe. His father preceded him in death, but his mother still lives here. He was married in 1920 to Miss Grace Wallace of DeSoto, but she passed away in January, 1943. December 27, 1944 he was married to Edna Hansen of the Orum vicinity who survives. During his lifetime his occupation has been farming, much of the time in the DeSoto neighborhood which had been his boyhood home.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Norma, now Mrs. Ralph Wright of this city, and a son, Dwight Rowe, also of Blair.
Services were held Monday, June 10th, at the Methodist church with Rev. Sidney L. McCaig officiating. Interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
Fick Funeral Home of Blair was in charge of the services.

Former DeSoto Farmer Dies after His Car Crashes Into Tree Here
Wife, Two Children, Mother Survive Him
Critically injured last Thursday night when his car struck a tree at the south entrance to Blair, Arthur S. Rowe, 45, died late Friday in Methodist hospital in Omaha. Several blood transfusions had been given in a vain endeavor to save his life.
Mr. Rowe's auto, northbound on Highway 73 into Blair, left the pavement at the Harry E. Smith home, just south of South Creek, and struck a tree. Neighbors, hearing the crash, summoned an ambulance and Mr. Rowe was rushed to Omaha.
Funeral services, in charge of the Fick Funeral Home, were held at 2pm Monday at First Methodist Church with the Rev. Sidney L. McCaig officiating. Music at the services was provided by G.L. Dixon and Mrs. Ethel Mead Byrd. Interment followed in the Blair cemetery. Pallbearers were Scott Hineline, Arthur Clausen, William Hineline, Roland Smith, George Lantry and George Good.
Arthur Smith Rowe was born at DeSoto January 28, 1901 and was a lifetime resident of the DeSoto and Blair communities. He farmed at DeSoto a number of years.
Mr. Rowe and Grace Wallace were married in 1920. She died in January, 1943. On December 27, 1944 he was married to Edna Hansen of Orum.
Surviving Mr. Rowe are his wife, Edna; one son, Dwight Rowe' a daughter, Mrs. Ralph Wright (Norma), and his mother, Mrs. Alice Rowe. All are Blairites.
