THOMAS JOHNSON RITES APRIL 13TH
Thomas Johnson, age 90 years, passed away April 11, 1949 shortly after midnight at the home of his niece, Mrs. Mabel Iversen of Herman.
Deceased came to this county in the early 80’s and worked for the late Martin Knutsen on the farm northwest of Blair. He was born in Norway on July 3, 1858, and still has a sister and nephew in Norway.
He worked on the railroad for a number of years, and retired at the age of 70 years. After his retirement he lived at the Drexel hotel in Omaha until six years ago when he lost his eyesight. He then went to the home of his niece, Mrs. Mabel Iverson, where he spent the remainder of his days.
He was a devout Mason and some months ago he was given the 50 year pin. He was also a Shriner and the funeral rites were conducted by this organization. Services were held Wednesday from the First Lutheran Church with Rev. H. C. Jorgensen officiating, and interment conducted by Henry Truhlsen of Herman, was made in the Blair cemetery.
