JOSEPH DE WITT DIED JAN. 23RD
Joseph Benjamin DeWitt, born at Neigh, Nebraska January 25, 1895, passed away January 23, 1949 (6:00 a.m.) at St. Catherine’s Hospital, Omaha, at the age of 53.
He was the son of Lyman C. and Ida E. DeWitt, and is survived by his wife, Madelaine; daughters, Virginia and Betty; son, Douglas; mother, Ida (of Ewing, Nebraska); brother, Charles (of Chadron, Nebraska); and one granddaughter.
He and his parents were Washington county residents before moving to Omaha in 1912, where Mr. DeWitt was associated in the insurance business for thirty years - fifteen of which were with Columbia Fire Underwriters and fifteen with Martin Bros.
Reverend O.S. Davies of Parkside Baptist Church, Omaha, officiated at the funeral services at Crosby-Kunold Mortuary on January 26th at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers were: Ed Cachelin of Calhoun, Nebr.; Fred Garner of Tekamah, Nebr.; Arthur Fausett, Norton Gleason, Lewis Keller and Floyd Childs, all of Omaha.
Jack Wright sang Mr. DeWitt’s favorite sons: “In The Garden” and “Beautiful Dreamer”.
Burial was at West Lawn Cemetery, Omaha.
