The funeral of Mrs. Thos. Bates took place at Kennard last Saturday, Rev. W. B. Butts officiating. Mrs. Bates was born in Washington county Oct. 19, 1878, and was married to Mr. Bates in December, 1895. She leaves two small children and a host of friends who mourn her death at such an early age. She was a bright, Christian young woman and her death is a severe blow to her bereaved husband and parents.
