15 Dec., 1909 - The Tribune - Jens Nielsen
Mrs. Carl Weise was called to Blair by the death of her father, Jens Nielsen, who came from Denmark to Washington county over forty years ago. When we first called on him he was living in the only house between the Higgins place and the Wright school house, then a stretch of over three miles. He was a carpenter by trade and built his own one room house from cottonwood boards and immediately began to plant trees around it, and by hard work and close attention added two or three hundred acres to the original eighty. He was now 75 years old and gave over the farm to his son-in-law, Carl Weise, and moved to Blair about three years ago.
