Just celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary
Joycelyn J. Schumacher, 70, of Kennard, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard. Interment will be in the Kennard Cemetery.
Joycelyn Joan "Joyce" Vlach was born June 11, 1941, at Elba to Jim and Elsie (Keller) Vlach. She attended school In Elba and graduated from Elba High School in 1959.
On Sept. 9, 1961, she married Don Schumacher at Emmaus Lutheran Church. They had just celebrated their 50th anniversary.
Mrs. Schumacher worked for a few years at Mutual of Omaha, then was a stay-at-home mom and helped on the farm. She went back to work at DL Blair in 1976 and retired from there after 32 years of service in 2009.
She was a past member of the Kennard VFW Auxiliary, Emmaus Lutheran Church Board and a Sunday School teacher.
She is survived by her husband, Don; sons, Chris and friend, Ann Allen, and Terry and Kate, all of Kennard, Tom and Janet of Bennington; grandchildren, Natasha and Brandon Schumacher of Fremont, Jack, Cole and Emma Schumacher of Bennington; one great-granddaughter, Jaydin Allen of Fremont; brother and sister-in-law, Ned and Christie Vlach of Milford; sister, Karen Wessling of Gretna.
Memorials may be directed to Emmaus Lutheran Church or Kennard Fire Department.
Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
