"Amazing Grace" verse 1--Rich Lund
Reflection--Cyndi Lund
"I once was lost, but now I am found, was blind, but now I see."--I believe this is something like what Mark said or what Mark realized just before his soul and his spirit left his natural body behind and entered the realm of the supernatural on Friday morning, October 29th, 1921. It is true that for most of his natural life Mark was spiritually lost and blind, but now, he is in the arms of his Savior and his Creator, fully enjoying life. You'll know why I'm fully convinced of this after you hear from Rich and Julie in just a little bit. Our hope and prayer is that we all can take comfort and be encouraged by knowing that even though Mark did not realize for most of his natural life just how immeasurably God loves him and all people, he certainly knows it now. As Psalm 139 is read from The Passion Translation of the Bible, I want you to imagine that these are now the words of Mark, who stands in God's presence in the heavenly realm.

Meditation & Committal--Cyndi Lund
We all will face a moment in time like the one Mark faced on Friday morning at 8:25am October 29th, 2021. The moment when our physical, natural body just wears out--for whatever reason--and releases our soul and spirit into the realm of the supernatural--for better, or for worse. Only God knows when that moment in time will be for each of us, but we can take comfort and be encouraged by what Jesus said about himself. He said "...I am the Resurrection, and I am Life Eternal. Anyone who clings to me in faith, even though he dies, will live forever. And the one who lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?" (John 11: 25-26 TPT). The woman Jesus was talking to responded, "...Yes, Lord, I do! I've always believed that you are the Anointed One, the Son of God who has come into the world for us!" (John 11: 27 TPT). We are so grateful, so thankful, so overjoyed that Mark Lund responded, "Yes, Lord, I do!" at the end of his natural life.
That verse of Amazing Grace talked about believers possessing a life of joy and peace within the veil. It's referring to the very thick veil that used to keep sinful people out of a sanctuary space called the Holy of Holies in the Jewish temple in Israel. It kept people out for their own good because nothing sinful can survive in the presence of a holy God. The Ark of the Covenant with its Mercy Seat was kept there, where only the sanctified, cleaned-up, high priest could meet with God one day each year to atone for all the people's sins. That veil was ripped open from top to bottom the very moment that Jesus died on the cross on a hill called Calvary to pay the ransom for all of mankind's sins--past, present and future. That Jewish temple was actually just an earthly representation of the real temple in heaven, so when Mark Lund left this world, that veil was no longer a hindrance to him, either on earth or in heaven. Mark's sanctified, cleaned-up spirit and soul walked straight into God's loving, holy presence, into a life of joy and peace, leaving his natural body behind.
So now, it is time for us to commit Mark's body to the ground: earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust, in sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ, who will one day change our natural bodies into glorious supernatural bodies like the one he received when he rose from the grave just 3 days after he died on the cross. We look forward to meeting Him and seeing Mark again, when our moment in time comes.
"My Chains Are Gone"--Chorus--Rich Lund
Closing Prayer and Benediction--Cyndi Lund
Papa God, we are so grateful for the time you gave us to be with Mark here on earth, whether he was grumpy or not, and whether we were grumpy or not. We ask you to bless us, comfort us, and carry us, as we journey through all the memories of Mark that trigger many emotions in our hearts. Place your healing hand on our hurting hearts and shift our focus to the glorious life that lies ahead with Mark. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen; so be it. And Shalom; be at peace.
