Asa Dixon, Jr., 72, Dies in Los Angeles
Ex-Blairite, Father of G. L. Dixon, was born in "77 of pioneer stock
Asa Dixon, Jr., 72, one-time Blair real estate man and the father of Gifford Dixon, Sr., of this city, died Sunday morning in West Los Angeles, Calif.
He had been ill a week with a virus infection at his home, 1728 Stoner Avenue, Los Angeles.
Descendant of a prominent pioneer Blair family, Mr. Dixon had visited here frequently since moving to California in 1923, his most recent visit being late last October.
Funeral services were held yesterday at Los Angeles, with interment there. G. L. Dixon went to California by plane to attend the rites.
One of the 15 children of Asa and Alice Dixon, Asa Dixon, Jr., was born here March 21, 1877.
After his graduation from Blair High School, he farmed for 12 years. In 1910 he joined the real estate business in Blair, remaining in this field until his death. His main business ventures since 1923 have been in California, but he had a number of real estate interests in Blair at the time of his death.
Mr. Dixon and Jessie Sheets were married in 1895 in Blair. To them were born two sons and three daughters. Later, he was married to Grace Schroeder of Tekamah.
Surviving Mr. Dixon are his wife; one son, G. L. Dixon, Sr., of Blair; three daughters, Mrs. D. D. Kinyoun (Iris) of Santa Monica, Calif., Mrs. E. Winfred (Jennie) of Los Angeles and Miss Mildred Dixon of Hamilton, Canada. A son Arthur preceded him in death.
Other survivors include two brothers, Oscar Dixon of Los Angeles and Fred Dixon of Salt Lake City; two sisters, Mrs. Russell Thrapp (Maude) and Mrs. Will Miller (Dulcie) both of Los Angeles; ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
