Mr. Halstead Dies in Texas
Everett Halstead, 62, a brother of Mrs. Sam Steele or Gladys of Blair, died yesterday afternoon in a veteran's hospital in McKinney, Texas. A veteran of World War I, Mr. Halstead served with the AES of the Philippines, France and Germany.
Born in Blair January 2, 1889, Mr. Halstead was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clement Halstead. He lived here for a short time following the first World War and became a member of the local V.F.W. His wife, Marg, lives at McIntosh, Minnesota, where the Halsteads operated a tavern the last three years. Mr. Halstead formally had been farming in Minnesota.
Mr. Halstead has no children surviving besides a brother and sister in Blair, another brother, Floyd Halstead, who lives in Redmond, Oregon.
The Pilot Tribune radio broadcast will carry details of the funeral arrangement, which have not been made by press time last night.
