Harold Fred Voskamp

Harold F. Voskamp, 91 years of Fremont passed away Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home at Blair, NE.

He was born October 29, 1919 in Scribner, NE to Gerrit and Margreta (Grone) Voskamp. Harold grew up near Uehling and graduated from Uehling High School in 1937. Shortly after his marriage the couple moved to a farm near Craig, NE and farmed for about 10 years. In 1954 they moved to Fremont. Harold worked for Daubert Construction for several years and then worked for Lloyd Stork for a couple of years both as a carpenter. He then worked for Korshoj Lumber for many years and for Don Gifford and Larry Shepard in maintenance at Nye Apartments until retiring in 2005.

Harold married Irene A. Forsberg, July 20, 1941 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church North of Hooper, NE. Irene passed away February 25, 1999.

He was a member of Sinai Lutheran Church in Fremont and Fremont Eagles Club Aerie 200. He coached little league baseball, softball and also did umpiring. He loved sports, horseshoeing and bowling.

Survivors include his daughters, Lois Wachter of Herman, NE and Kathy Voskamp of Fremont; brother Stanley and wife Marilyn Voskamp of Uehling, NE; daughter-in-law, Melody Voskamp of Fremont; 4 grandchildren, Todd & Scott Wachter, Jim Voskamp and Terri Beck and 15 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irene Voskamp; son, Harold D. Voskamp; sister, Margie Misemer; brother, Glenneville Voskamp; grandson, Corie Voskamp and son-in-law, Tom Wachter.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Sinai Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Michael Ostrom will officiate. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 from 2-8 P.M. the family will receive friends from 7-8 P.M. all at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 A.M. at the church.

Burial will be at Elim Lutheran Cemetery at Swaburg at 1:00 P.M.

Memorials may be given to the donors choice.
