Ann F. (Ferrara) Benson

January 25, 1932—March 13, 2024

FREMONT—Ann F. Benson, 92, formerly of Fremont, NE passed away on March 13, 2024 at Mount Carmel Nursing Home in Kearney, NE, where she resided since May 2024.

Ann was born in New Haven, Connecticut on January 25, 1932 to Emily (Kingsbery) and John Ferrara.

Ann spent most of her younger life in Los Angeles, attending Los Angeles Public Schools. Ann graduated from Los Angeles High School in 1949. Ann met the love of her life, Edwin Benson at a USO dance in Los Angeles. When Eddie returned from the Korean War they married on April 19, 1953 in Los Angeles. They were married for 56 years. To this union Gregory (Greg) and Kathyrn (Kathy) were born. Eddie and Ann made their home in Fremont, NE. Ann loved to read, play bridge, paint, and socialize with her Fremont friends. Ann and Eddie enjoyed wintering in Arizona. Ann was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.

Those left to cherish her memory include her two children, Greg (Marcia) of Kearney and Kathy von Kienast (Greg Wiesner) of Cicero, Indiana, her grandchildren Angela Lyon of Grand Island, Melinda (Minnie) Weller (Travis) of Fort Calhoun, Tyler Benson (Cammie) of Hastings, Jeff von Kienast (Jenny) of Westfield, Indiana, Sydney (Taran) Blanchard of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eddie; and uncle, Lloyd Kingsbery.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church in Fremont, Nebraska. Pastor Sean Tyler officiating. Interment of the Cremains will be in Memorial Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Nebraska Children’s Home.
