Ruby Jean Chapman, known to many as Grammie, age 98, passed away June 14, 2024, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday June 25, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Blair. Visitation will be held Monday June 24, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Campbell Aman Funeral Home in Blair.

Ruby was born May 13, 1926, on the family farm in Washington, Neb., the daughter of George and Annie (Pate) Christensen. She was baptized at First Baptist Church and was a lifetime member. She attended grade school at Rispin country school and later graduated from Blair High School. After high school she worked behind the soda fountain at Copes Café and at the Gamble’s Store. On June 18, 1950, she was united in marriage to Jack Chapman. The couple made their home in Blair. In 1954 the couple welcomed their daughter Susan to the family and their son Jeff followed in 1962. Ruby loved sewing, needle point and baking and sharing her cookies and famous pies with her family and friends. In her later years she worked for ENCOR until her retirement in 2006. She always took excellent care of her Nebraska Street ladies.

Ruby is survived by her children, Susan (Steve) Hollis and Jeff Chapman, grandchildren Nicholas (Lisa) Hollis, Emily Hollis and her life partner Kenny and Amy Hollis. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren; Trevor, Hailey, Jack, Gracey and Chloe, and grand dogs Chappy Dogg and Little Brother Boy along with extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack, many brothers and sisters, and Mr. Jinx.
