ALBERT CARVER IS BURIED WEDNESDAY
Blair Resident for Half Century Died at Home in Colorado
Ill for one year, Albert Carver, a Blair resident for nearly half a century but for the past three years living in Berthoud, Colorado, died last Wednesday from infirmities of old age. He was 83 years old at the time of his death.
As a Blair resident from 1883 until 1931, Mr. Carver was well known to hundreds of local people, having for years operated a dray in this city, in the days when that was practically the only method of transporting goods between the railroad depot and the Blair business houses and residences. During the last few years of his residence her, Mr. Carver had been a salesman, traveling from door to door, peddling kitchen articles to Blair housewives.
He was born in Alexandria, Indiana, May 28, 1851, and spent his boyhood days there, securing his education in the Alexandria schools.
He was married to Miss Martha Redding in Indiana October 10, 1874, and in 1881 they moved to Nebraska, coming to Blair two years later.
To Mr. and Mrs. Carver were born five children, four of them dying in infancy, and the fifth, Edward Carver, passing away January 5, 1922.
Mrs. Albert Carver died May 6, 1931, at the age of 74 years, leaving Mr. Carver as the only surviving member of the immediate family.
Left to mourn his departure are two grandchildren, Albert Carver Jr, of Blair, and Edgar Carver of Berthoud, Colorado; a brother, S. Carver of Indianapolis, Indiana; and a sister, Mrs. Martilda Buriss of Woodbine, Iowa.
Since the death of his wife three years ago, Mr. Carver had made his home with his daughter-in-law, Mrs. O.N. Edmiston of Berthoud. While living in Colorado he had made several trips to Woodbine, Iowa, to visit his sister, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, in charge of Rev. T.J. Reese, were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Bendorf Funeral Home, with interment in the Blair cemetery.
