RITES HELD FOR MARY GILLESPIE
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Gillespie, 64, of Elkhorn and formerly of Blair, were held Wednesday morning at ten o’clock at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at Elkhorn. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery at Blair.
Mrs. Gillespie is survived by her husband John Gillespie Sr., a son John Jr., two brothers and four sisters.

MRS.GILLESPIE FUNERAL IS HELD
Mrs. Mary Gillespie, 64, wife of John Gillespie of Elkhorn, died suddenly at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Omaha. The Gillespies formerly farmed north of Blair.
Mrs. Gillespie had been ill about three months with a brain tumor, but had recovered sufficiently that she was able to visit her home briefly last week before returning to the hospital.
The rosary for Mrs. Gillespie was recited at 8pm Tuesday at the John E. Johnston & Son Mortuary in Omaha. Funeral rites 10am Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elkhorn, burial in Holy Cross Cemetery in Blair.
As Mary Cunningham, Mrs. Gillespie was born in County Donegal, Ireland, May 21, 1890. Mr. Gillespie, who had emigrated from Ireland to the United States, returned there in 1912 to marry her. For 20 years the Gillespies farmed north of Blair in the Goll School district. In 1933 they moved to Elkhorn.
Surviving Mrs. Gillespie are her husband, John; a son, John Jr; two brothers, Patrick and Con Cunningham of Kilcar Donegal, Ireland; and four sisters, Mrs. Hannah Gillespie of Omaha, Mrs. Catherine Nebel of Longmont, Colorado, Mrs. Anne Deane and Miss Bridget Cunningham, both of Ireland.
