David H. Larsen was born May 21, 1941 in Omaha, Nebraska to Leonard and Clara (Steeden) Larsen. Dave grew up in Benson, Nebraska, but attended Junior and Senior High School in Blair, Nebraska, graduating from Blair High School in 1960.
Dave served in the United States Army and the Army National Guard from November 4, 1964 until his honorable discharge December 18, 1969, earning his Sharpshooter Badge.
Dave married Mary C. Hagedorn on March 10, 1979 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bennington, Nebraska, and to this union, three children were born: Robert W., Kathleen A. and Leonard W. The family made their home outside of Fort Calhoun, Nebraska.
Dave was a farmer, and his whole life revolved around farming. When he wasn't on the farm, he could be found having coffee with his friends in the McDonald's Club. Dave was an avid Husker fan, who enjoyed a good Danish, and loved spending time with the kids and grandkids. His favorite color was green, favorite movie was "Any Which Way but Loose", and favorite song, "Unchained Melody".
Dave was a kindhearted, fun loving guy. He was fond of saying, "You can pick your friends, you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friend's nose!" He seemed to have a habit of going the wrong way on one-way streets, and with round abouts, would just keep going around and around. He also did NOT like it if you used cinder blocks as jack stands.
Dave died on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 81 years and 22 days. He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard & Clara Larsen. Dave is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Kathy (Joe) Ellis, sons Robert (Krystal) and Leonard (Megan) Larsen, sister Janet Pebley, brothers Roger (Linda) and Paul (Leah) Larsen, 5 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, and many more family and friends.
