Rodney (Rod) Martin Hansen, 67, of Blair, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 19th from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home, with a Masonic Service beginning at 7:00 pm. Memorial service will be held Friday, September 20th, at 10:30 am, at First Lutheran Church in Blair, Nebraska. Private interment will be at First Lutheran Church Columbarium.
Rod was born on January 14, 1957, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Martin and Rachel (Nelson) Hansen. Rod was raised in Blair, first attending Pleasant View Country School, and then Blair schools until he graduated from Blair High School in 1975.
He went to work for Vinton Motor Company, which later became Sid Dillon Chevrolet, where he worked for over 40 years until his retirement in December 2016. Rod was a Service Manager and later a Salesman, where he was dedicated to the customers he served – many becoming friends over the years.
Rod was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church, where he was baptized, confirmed and married to Patricia on October 12, 1990. He served on First Lutheran Church Council, Property Committee, Mission, and Evangelism Committee. He was also a Stephen Minister at FLC. Rod received his calling to the church after he retired from Sid Dillon, becoming a Parish Ministry Associate in 2019.
Hunting and fishing were lifelong passions of Rod, so it was fitting he was a Charter Member of the Washington County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, Past Chairman, and the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award. Rod was also an active member of the Washington County Masons, serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Master of the Lodge.
Many in the community knew Rod because of his community involvement, selling cars at Sid Dillon Chevrolet, his love of sharing his garden every year, and his dedication to those he counseled through his ministry. He truly found his calling in ministry and expressed many times to his family and friends how much it meant to him to counsel others in the Word of God.
Rod is survived by his wife Pat, children Joelle (Jason) Kesling and Kim (Aaron) Brown; grandchildren Mason (Geneva Sinkula) Brown, Colton (Kourtney) Kesling, Paige Kesling, and Abigail Brown; sisters Marcia Golden, Joan (Doyle) Schroeder, and brother Doug (Shari) Hansen; nieces Keri (Jared) Romick, Angie (Dave) Livingston, Emily (Mark) Belau, Patrick (Kari) Schroeder, Alyssa (Seth Allen) Hansen, Kelsey (Brian) Christensen, nephews Brent (Megan) Golden and Zach (Leia) Hansen; many great nieces and nephews, life-long besties Frank Wilkins, Randy Petersen, Brad Lippincott; and extended family and friends.
Rod was preceded in death by his parents Martin Hansen and Rachel (Carl) Sorensen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church in Blair, the Washington County Masons, the Washington County Ducks Unlimited chapter, or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
