Betty Jean Larsen, age 98, passed away September 26, 2024, at The Heritage at Shalimar Gardens in Fremont, Nebraska. Services will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum, NE.

Betty was born March 7, 1926, in Blair, NE, the daughter of Albert and Katie Petersen. Betty grew up in several communities in northeast Nebraska. After graduating from Herman High School, she attended Dana College in Blair and earned her teaching certificate. Betty taught country school in Washington County for two years. On April 1, 1949, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Chester Larsen. The couple made their home in Spiker for over 40 years. They later moved to Fremont.

Betty was a long-time member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Orum and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. The greatest joy in Betty’s life was always her family, especially her grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her children: Judy (Jim) Roberts, Kathy (Mike) Brodersen, Rick (Colleen) Larsen; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; brother Lloyd (Donna) Petersen, sister Mary Alice Frahm; along with extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester; her parents, siblings: Lois, Ruth, Elaine and Harlan, and granddaughter Jennifer.

Memorials may be directed to the Fremont Area Community Foundation.
