Betty Katherine Colgan Higgins

Betty Katherine Higgins was born on June 24, 1941, in Omaha, Nebraska to Ralph and Viola (Salsbury) Colgan. Throughout her lifetime, she lived in varies places including Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon and Iowa. On September 10, 1960, Betty was united in marriage with Lawrence Higgins at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair, Nebraska. They were married for 64 wonderful years and blessed with five children, 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Betty had a successful career working in the insurance industry and spent the last 20 years of her working career at Union Pacific.
Lawrence and Betty have been longtime members of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family. Her interests included square dancing, bowling, playing cards and watching sporting events, especially those in which her family members participated.
Betty died on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at her home in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 83 years, four months and 11 days.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Barb Frye, Virginia Ladd and Jack Colgan.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence of Omaha, Nebraska; sister, Charlotte (Fred) Townsend of Herman, Nebraska; children, Teresa (Tom) Budke of Bonner Springs, Kansas, Christina (Mark) Grabbe of Blair, Nebraska, Kimberly (Paul) Prusa of Omaha, Nebraska, Phillip Higgins and his partner Karen of Omaha, Nebraska and Angela (Brad) Svensen of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Josh (Mandy) Grabbe, Justin (Courtney) Grabbe, Jarrett Grabbe, Adam Prusa, Elliot Prusa, Amy Prusa, Jake (Erin) Higgins, Paige Higgins, Sophia Svensen, Lydia Svensen and Cole Svensen; great grandchildren, Grady Grabbe, Hadley Grabbe, Beckett Babcock, Maverick Grabbe, Camden Grabbe, and a granddaughter due in February; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

Final Resting Place: Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Dunlap, Iowa
