Gary L. Dather, 70, of Fremont, NE, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Methodist Fremont Health.

He was born November 17, 1954, in Norfolk, NE, to Forrest and Elaine (Murphy) Dather.

Gary grew up in Fremont and graduated from Fremont Senior High School and Metropolitan Community College. He married Marilyn Foster on August 22, 1973, in Fremont. He worked at Fremont (Lincoln) Grain Elevator, and Valmont Industries prior to working at Hormel for over 20 years. He then did surveying work for Lamp Rynearson in Omaha, and later worked at the Fremont State Lakes.

He was a member of Bluffs Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont and was on their board. Current president of Izaak Walton Park in Fremont, member of the Elkhorn Valley Rifle Club at Arlington, and member of the S.I.D. #2, in Fremont.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Jo Dather Hart, Vicky Mayhew, and Deborah Lynn Lackey; and in-laws: Jay and Phyllis (Leeds) Foster.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; son, John (Jill) Dather, all of Fremont; daughter, Laura (Michael) Foley, of Columbus; sister, Connie Dather, of Fremont; nine grandchildren and two plus great-grandchildren. Private Family Funeral will be next week at Moser’s in Fremont. A possible Celebration of Life Service may be held in the spring.

Memorials are suggested to Bluffs Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont.
