Delbert L. Hively, 86, of Fremont passed away Saturday, November 9th at his home. Delbert was born on June 16, 1938 in Fremont, NE to Delbert and Virginia (Davis) Hively.

Delbert grew up in Fremont and attended Fremont High School, where he excelled at football and track.

Delbert served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1958 on the USS Boxer.

Delbert married Mary Jean Anderson on November 5, 1960 in Kennard, NE. Delbert worked as a barber, a supervisor at Nashua Paper Company in Omaha, and finished his career with the United States Postal Service.

Delbert was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Pathfinder Chorus. Delbert loved to golf, fish, and was a die-hard Husker fan. But, most of all Delbert cherished his family.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jean; sons, Jeff (Lori) Hively and Greg Hively; grandchildren, AJ and Tyler Hively, and Shanna Wiechert; great-grandchildren, Elijah and Leila Hively; sister, Margee Hiykel.

Delbert was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Eleanor Davis; sister, Bonnie Freeman; and daughter-in-law, Jan Hively.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 14, 2024 at First Lutheran Church in Fremont. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church. Burial with military honors will take place at Ridge Cemetery in Fremont.
