LeMara Jean (Misfeldt) Eicke was born in Washington, Nebraska to Geroge and Verna (Knudsen) Misfeldt on June 14, 1935. Early family memories included playing with her older brother, Daryl, and the family dog, Rusty. She remembered tough times during World War II and ration stamps.

The family moved to the 41st and Lafayette area in Omaha where her father, George, ran a streetcar for the Omaha-Council Bluffs Streetcar Company and her mother, Verna, worked at the Martin Bomber Plant. They moved back to Washington in 1945 wanting LeMara and Daryl to attend grade school at the two-room schoolhouse in town. LeMara graduated from Bennington High School. She dreamed of being a journalist and attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont.

LeMara married Henry Arthur "Artie" Eicke at Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkhorn on November 12, 1955. To this union, four children were born: Edward, Lynn, Paula, and Mae. The family moved around before settling in Washington, Nebraska in 1961.

Well remembered life experiences included working as a waitress, floral designer, teletype setter and for the U.S. Post Office. Early years found her involved in the Washington County Museum and Frahm House in Fort Calhoun. Later years found her involved with Washington County Recycling in Blair as well as being active in her community of Washington. She loved being with her many friends of the Women of Washington group as well as monthly lunches with cousins.

She enjoyed crafting, making jams and jellies, working with the 4H kids, gathering family history, hosting her yearly boutique, being with family and the opportunities she had to travel and visit several foreign countries.
