Larry Duane Doeden, 88, of Superior, WI, passed away on December 8, 2024. Graveside services will be held in the Blair Cemetery at a later date.

He was born May 21, 1936, in Nehawka, Nebraska, the son of Henry (Hank) & Eda (Garlipp) Doeden. Larry grew up in the Valley, Nebraska, area, graduating from Valley High School in 1953.

He served in the United States Air Force (1955-1959) as an aircraft mechanic. His service in the military was some of his favorite memories to share with family and friends.

On August 12, 1961, he was united in marriage to Guin J. Hansen. They shared over 63 years together raising three children in Blair, Ne. Larry worked for AT&T (formerly Western Electric) for 34 years. He also owned and operated a lawn service in Blair prior to and during his early retirement, where several of the grandkids got to “work” with him.

Larry and Guin lived in Nebraska until retiring to the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri in 1993 where Larry enjoyed boating, a bowling league, and Larry found a new talent in a horseshoe league. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 2705 and West Lake Christian Church. They later relocated to Wisconsin where he enjoyed time with family.

Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a caring neighbor and friend to many. All will treasure the memories they shared with him. His sense of humor will be remembered by so many.

Larry is survived by his wife Guin, Superior Wisconsin; daughter Sheri (Mick) Johnson, Ashland, Wisconsin; daughter-in-law Rhonda Hillman, Blair, Ne.; brother Gilbert (Carol) Doeden, Blair, Ne.; sister Karlene Steere, Omaha, Ne.; sister-in-law Marlene Hansen, Omaha, Ne., along with 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gene and Lloyd, sister Aileen Eaton, daughter Diane (Hillman) Reed, and son Rick Hillman.
