Ruth Ann Persson, age 85 of Blair, passed away January 8, 2025, at the Nebraska Medical Center. Memorial services will be held Thursday, January 16, at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Graveside services will be held at a later date in the Blair Cemetery.

Ann was born on February 14, 1939, in Oakland, Nebraska, the daughter of Wallace Clifford and Ruth Evelyn (Frost) McBroom. She was raised in the Uehling area and then later the family moved to Craig, where she attended and graduated from high school in 1956. On April 14, 1957, she was united in marriage to Donald Persson at First Lutheran Church in Oakland, Nebraska. After their wedding the couple made their home in Omaha until moving to Blair in 1962, where they raised their 3 sons.

Ann earned her cosmetology degree and worked for Mar-Bee Salon in Blair. She later worked in the deli at Petro Mart until her full retirement.

Ann enjoyed traveling, going to the casino, watching bull riding on TV and bowling in earlier years. She especially enjoyed the annual family fishing trips to Minnesota when her boys were young. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting and following her grandchildren's activities.

She was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church in Blair, a member of the Eagles Club, the VFW Auxiliary and TOPS in Blair.

She is survived by her sons; Daniel (Donna) Persson of Kearney, Michael (Diane) Persson of Lincoln, and Mark (Gail) Persson of Blair; grandchildren: Derek (Austyn) Persson, Lauren (Ryan) Miller, Jerod (Stacy) Persson, Brock (Kalinda) Persson, Evan Persson, Stuart Douglas and Marci (Chris) Woehler, 10 great-grandchildren, along with extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald, sister and brother-in-law Mary Lou Roost and Charles Roost, and special friend Eugene Runte.

Memorials may be directed to the family for later distribution to local organizations.
