James E. Woodard, age 89 of Blair, passed away February 2, 2025, at Good Shepherd in Blair, Nebraska. Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Jim was born on December 27, 1935, in Blair, Nebraska, the son of Howard and Helen Woodard. He was raised in Blair, and worked at Fairway Oil during his high school years. Jim graduated from Blair High School in 1954, and on March 13, 1954, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Kathleen Surber.
Jim started out working as a bread delivery driver for Omar Bakery and then a milkman for Robert's Dairy. He later worked for Omaha Brokerage as a grocery broker. He then began working for Harris Shoes in the early 1970s. He continued to work there until his retirement in 1997. Shortly after his retirement he began working at Campbell Aman Funeral Home for over 20 years.
Jim was a dedicated family man; he treasured spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He could always be found attending family sporting events. Jim loved cooking for his family and friends. He and Kay have been long-time members of the First United Methodist Church in Blair.
Jim is survived by Kay, his loving wife of 71 years; children: Deb Woodard, Mike Woodard and Becky Underwood; grandchildren: Dustin Woodard, Stacy (John) Popish, Kiley (Bryce) Kastrup, Mike (Cheree) Underwood and Jenny Leake; 15 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by grandson Davey Henley and son-in-law Jerry Underwood.
Memorials may be directed to the Blair Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad or First United Methodist Church in Blair.
