With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Arthur Wayne Pensyl, age 62 of Fremont, Nebraska, who departed this life on February 10th, 2025. Memorial services will be held Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at Reach Church, Blair, Nebraska.

Art was born on December 16, 1962, at Fort Ord, California, the son of Guy Pensyl Sr. and Charlotte (Adams) Pensyl. He was raised in Omaha, Nebraska, where he attended Omaha North High School. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Cavalry Scout. Art was always very proud of his service. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Art found employment with the Parks and Recreation Department with the City of Omaha.

Art had a deep passion for the outdoors; he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family, especially at Gavins Point Dam and Fort Robinson in South Dakota, as well as Wilson Island and the Fremont State Lakes where he would frequent from early spring until the first snow each year. He loved cooking for friends and family and raising his own garden. Art will always be remembered as a gentle giant. He was an imposing figure but with a compassionate heart.

Art is survived by his children: Joe Gruhn, Garrett Pensyl and Tina Pensyl; grandchildren: Gage, Hailee, Aubree; siblings: Guy (Heidi) Pensyl Jr., Tina (Steve) Halley, Kathy (Ted) Shively, Naomi (Dan) Pensyl; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved granddaughter Savannah Pensyl, brother Ervin Pensyl and sister Missy Pensyl.
