Dan Murchie, 85, of Blair, NE, passed away on March 8, 2025. He was born on July 15, 1939 at the hospital in Cando, ND.

He is preceded in death by his wife Clarice “Rudy” Murchie, parents Peter and Marian Murchie, brother Robert Murchie, and step-grandson Jack Dollison.

He is survived by his step-sons Dan Dollison (Nicole), Kevin Dollison (Lorinda), Tom Dollison (Jeri), and Matt Dollison (Amanda), and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dan grew up on a farm near Sarles, ND. After graduating high school in 1957, he served in the National Guard until 1965. He later owned and operated a bulk fuel business out of Hansboro and later Rolla, ND.

Dan met the love of his life, Clarice (Rudy), and married her on March 31, 1990. Saying two words instantly changed Dan from a lifelong bachelor to a husband, father and grandfather. Although he was not blood related to any of his four new kids or their many children, he was the most loving and supportive father and grandfather any of them could ask for.

Dan and Rudy sold their fuel business in 1997, and moved to Mandan, ND. There Dan worked as a mechanic for J5 Trucking until 2009, when they moved to Blair, NE, to spend their retirement near family.

In his spare time Dan enjoyed flying his J5 Cub plane, fishing, hunting, and especially woodworking in his retirement years. Dan was a very skilled wood turner, and he created many extraordinary pieces.

Dan’s family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all the Cedarhurst Senior Living and Aegis Hospice staff who helped make Dan’s final days peaceful and comfortable.

Funeral: Saturday, March 15th, 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 14205 Ida St., Omaha, NE 68142. There will be a luncheon at the church following the service.

Memorials in Dan’s memory may be sent to Zion Lutheran Church.
