Hornick, Iowa—Frieda “Fritzi” Lund, 96, of Whiting, Iowa, formerly of Hornick, died Tuesday, October 2, 2001 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting.

Services will be 10:30am today at Wood Funeral Chapel in Sloan, Iowa. Burial will be in Blair City Cemetery, Blair, Nebraska. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service today at the funeral chapel.

Fritzi’s parents, John Christian and Charlotta (Peterson) Lund came to Omaha, Nebraska from Germany. They moved to Olds, Alberta, Canada, where they homesteaded. Fritzi was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The family returned to Omaha after taking a trip to Germany. Fritzi attended and graduated from an Omaha school.

In the 1930’s, she moved to a farm between Sloan, Iowa and Hornick, with her parent and a sister, Martha “Marty” Lund. After their parents died, Fritzi and Marty moved to a home in Hornick, where they stayed until they moved to Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting.

Fritzi was a member of First Lutheran Church in Omaha for many years, where she was a long-time choir member. She later attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Climbing Hill, Iowa.

Survivors include a nephew, David Lund of Omaha; a sister-in-law, Esther Lund of Omaha; three cousins, George Lund and Betty Nelson, both of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Helen and her husband, Roy Bauermeister, of Arlington, Nebraska; a grandnephew, Matthew Lund of Omaha, and a grandniece, Kristy Lund of Omaha.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marty Lund, and two brothers, Walter and Harry.
