Matthew Patrick Shores, 68 of Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, passed away on March 11, 2025.

Matt was born to James and Maxine Shores on July 4, 1956.

After high school Matt joined the Navy where he became a helicopter mechanic earning his license to fly helicopters. He also received his license as a scuba instructor. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1978.

He then joined the railroad, where he worked as an engineer. He eventually went back to school at Metro Tech where he earned a degree in HVAC. Matt worked several jobs in this specialty until his death.

Survivors included longtime companion Kathy Jensen of Ft. Calhoun and her sons Joe (April) Jensen of Ft. Calhoun and Mike (Sydney) Jensen and granddaughter Gloria of Lincoln, NE; Matt's children Mike (Millette) Shores of Audubon, IA, and Michelle (Tony) Phippen of Exira, IA. Along with eight grandchildren Claire (Oscar), Lauren (Dustin), Ashley, Jackson, Cannon, Landon, Paisley and Charli. Along with four great-grandchildren Lane, Elena, Knox and Haven. Matt's brother Jim (Jean) Shores of Blair, NE, nephew Jim (Jessica) Shores of Dunedin, FL, and niece Jackie (Danny) Wikowsky and son Noah of Omaha, NE.

Matt enjoyed traveling, riding his Harley, taking pictures, karaoke, cooking, camping and spending time with his friends and family.

It was Matt's wishes to be cremated and buried at sea. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
