Mrs. Ella Wood, 86, Dies In Tekamah

Mrs. Ella Wood, 86, died at the home of her son, George Wood, on Monday night, June 16. She had lived in Burt County for 81 years.

Funeral services were held at the Schafer and Peck funeral home Wednesday afternoon, with the Rev. N.B. Blackman officiating.

Burial was at Herman.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Wood were held Wednesday, June 18, from the Schafer and Peck Funeral Home, with the Rev. N. B. Blackman officiating.

Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Goll of Blair, Nebraska sang two hymns. Mrs. Jesse Hume was accompanist.

Ella Fink, the daughter of William and Dorthea Fink, was born March 24, 1872 at Palmer, Christian County, Illinois. She died at the home of her son, George, in Tekamah June 15, 1958.

She was baptized in St. Paul’s Protestant church in Belleville, Illinois, November 5, 1876. Later she became a member of the Methodist church in Tekamah.

Mrs. Wood came to Nebraska in 1877 with her family and had lived in Burt county since that time.

On May 15, 1902, she was married to George Wood. They had on son, George, with whom she made her home for many years.

She was a member of Magnolia Rebekah Lodge No. 94 for 52 years.

Survivors include her son, one grandson and three sisters, Emma Dewey of Coleridge, Nebraska, Mary Jager of Omaha, Nebraska, and Anna Hawkins of Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Casket bearers were Floyd Burrell, James Goll Sr., Archie Corbin, Roy Bowden, Roy Plummer and Loren Bundy. Interment was in the Herman cemetery.
