Daryl Edward Nelson passed away on June 9, 2025, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Daryl was born in Denison, Kansas, on January 25, 1949, and due to his health he was adopted as an infant by his biological Aunt Joey Ann and Uncle Harold Nelson. He is preceded in death by Aunt Joey Ann and Uncle Harold as well his biological parents, Virginia and William George.
He is survived by his three children: Debbie DeMott (Jeff) of Lake Ozark, MO; Leslie Tenney (Matt) of Ozark, MO; and Daryl Edward Nelson, Jr. of Omaha, NE; nine grandchildren: Nicholas Nelson (Ashley), Brittany Marquart, Adam Marquart, Tina Humphrey (Jack), Andrew Boillot (Chrystal), Annastosha Spragt, Aaron Murphy, Dominique Waylon and Mark Hubbard, 20 great-grandchildren; brothers Carrol Eugene George (Roberta) of Paola, KS; William Nelson of Council Bluffs, IA; and sisters Sandra Bowers of Biloxi, MI; and Mary Olds of Surprise, AZ.

He was a worship leader in a small storefront church in Omaha. Daryl worked as an auto mechanic and also worked for Burlington Northern Railroad prior to suffering a stroke in 2007.
Dary's sense of humor was lifelong. He loved to make people laugh, from the time he was a child to the years when the stroke left him with two catch phrases of, "yeah buddy" and "ah, come on." Even a limited vocabulary couldn't stop him from making people laugh.
In the last several years, he was blessed by a loving community at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home, with many friends and caring providers.
Celebration of Life will be held at Living Hope Assembly of God, 10194 US-75, Blair, Nebraska on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11 a.m.
